Concert Preparation and Institutional Management
Prerequisites: Certificate from Basic Curriculum plus CSPT Admissions test, or RPT status in PTG plus CSPT Admissions Test
Course Length and Type: 40 weeks in-class or in-venue, at least 8 hours per week, likely significantly more; combined lecture, demonstration, hands-on, with practicum/internship; intensive in-venue work with practicing technicians

Course Description:
At End of Course, Student will know and be able to demonstrate knowledge of:
- Overall maintenance of instruments for general institutional and concert use
- Appropriate rebuilding, action restoration, furniture skills, and shop management (tooling) for institutional purposes
- Fine tuning and pitch control for concert purposes
- Fine regulation and voicing for concert purposes
- Basic harpsichord, fortepiano, and historical instrument tuning, repair, and maintenance
- Various alternative temperaments and their applications
- Trouble shooting and time management in concert preparation
- Artist and management relations
- Inventory assessment and management in an institutional setting: database creation
- Facilities management, humidity control, space planning, time management, supervisory skills
- Decision-making with institutional managers for budgeting and inventory, and for repairs and rebuilding
- Record-keeping and business management
- Real-world outside experience throughout via practicum and in-venue collaboration
