CSPT Winter Inter-Term
Week 1:
Practice Tuning:
- Tune the temperament in a practice studio at CSPT. Measure your tuning with the Verituner. Score it on the computer. Print out the Temperament Chart and put it in the instructor's mailbox. Do at least three (3) of these tunings this week, using a different piano each time.
Reading/Study:
- Read chapters 1-7 of “Temperament” (by Stuart Isacoff) and the study questions. (Email your answers to the instructor by the end of the weekend.)
Week 2:

- Tune the temperament in a practice studio at CSPT. Measure your tuning with the Verituner. Score it on the computer. Print out the Temperament Chart and put it in the instructor's mailbox. Do at least three (3) of these tunings per week, using a different piano each time.

- Read chapters 8-14 of “Temperament” and the study questions. (Email your answers to the instructor by the end of the weekend.)
Week 3:

- Read the following parts of “How Equal Temperament Ruined Harmony” (by Duffin): Acknowledgements, Prelude, and chapters 1-6. Review the study questions. (Email your answers to the instructor by the end of the weekend.)
Week 4:

- Tune the temperament in a practice studio at CSPT. Measure your tuning with the Verituner. Score it on the computer. Print out the Temperament Chart and put it in the instructor's mailbox. Do at least two (2) of these tunings this week.
Reading/Study:
- Read chapters 7-10 of “How Equal Temperament Ruined Harmony” (Duffin) and the “Afterword” of “Temperament” (Isacoff). Review the study questions and email your answers to the instructor by the end of the week.
Before 2nd Quarter classes resume, it would be helpful if you are able to tune a couple more practice temperaments just prior to your first class.
